Hoshino Gakki began building budget-friendly drums in 1961 under the name Star before launching the Tama name in the mid-70s. It was when they jointly purchased Camco in 1977 that Tama set their course to become one of the industry greats that they are today. From their flagship Starclassic drum sets and legendary Bell Brass snares to their Iron Cobra bass drum pedals, Tama has been making iconic gear for pros and beginners around the globe for nearly six decades.
