There are no extra holes or modifications, and it fits modern Remo heads. The original strainer operates smoothly. There is a slight cosmetic bend on the edge of the top and bottom hoop which is par for the course with these vintage brass stick chopper hoops. This is a fabulous sounding and playing drum. Enjoy!
