1920s Ludwig 5x14 No. 655 Super Sensitive Snare Drum Brass Dual Strainer
1920s Ludwig 5x14 No. 655 Super Sensitive Snare Drum Brass Dual Strainer
Condition: Vintage
For your supreme viewing pleasure is this rare vintage Ludwig 5x14 No. 655 Super Sensitive snare drum with uncataloged natural brass finish. This drum was first introduced in 1929 and was typically made with nickel or gold plating, or white enamel. It's in beautiful condition with a couple tiny dings. This is a very heavy two-piece brass shell with welded back bearing edges. The nickel plated hardware has all aged beautifully including the "Super Sensitive" stamped bottom hoop and all the clips are intact with no cracks. What makes this one even more rare is that the dual strainer system is fully functional. It still has the original coiled wire snares, and modern heads fit well. Truly a stunning piece of drum history. This would equally be at home amongst the finest of collections, studios, and stages. Enjoy!
