1948-52 WFL Ludwig 14x22 Virgin Bass Drum White Marine Pearl
1948-52 WFL Ludwig 14x22 Virgin Bass Drum White Marine Pearl
Condition:
For your extreme viewing pleasure is this beautiful 1948-52 WFL 14x22 bass drum in beautiful white marine pearl. This is a virgin bass drum, meaning it was never drilled for a tom mount, and also was never drilled for cymbal arms or spurs. It was always used with hoop mounted spurs since new, and was always played with an of the era WFL Classic Porto Pak snare drum (see other listing), and no toms. Aside from the modern heads, this drum is completely original including the nickel plated WFL stamped T's/claws, washers, and lugs. The wrap has held up nicely and looks great, there are seven small surface splits on the bottom of the drum and are only visible when the drum is upside down, and three very small surface splits in the panel to left of the badge panel if sitting in playing position. Like any drum from this era, it has the expected typical discoloration near the edges from where the original calf skin heads were seated, which is not seen unless the hoops and heads are removed. There are no extra holes or modifications, and the edges are original and true, save for a very shallow small bump to the outer edge of the bearing edge on the bottom of the batter side which does not affect the tuning or sound in the least, and is merely cosmetic in nature. This drum tunes up easily and sounds incredible. Enjoy!
