For your viewing pleasure is this vintage Slingerland No. 153 Super Gene Krupa 5.5x14 solid shell snare drum in Blue Sparkling Pearl from the late 1950s to very early 1960s. This particular shade of deep blue glass glitter Slingerland used is a favorite of ours. This drum is in overall great condition with light signs of wear as shown, and some changed tension rods. It has the second version of the Black & Brass Chicago badge which dates to 1959-61. There are no extra holes of any kind. It has a chrome over brass top hoop and a steel bottom hoop. The Super Strainer (or clam shell as it is sometimes referred), operates well and looks great with some wear on the arm and is missing the bottom screw plate the holds the extended Radio King wires hence the standard wires installed. The double padded No. 1080 tone control operates smoothly. It tunes up wonderfully, and produces the heavenly sonic signature that can only be realized with a solid shell Slingerland snare of this vintage that has seasoned for over 65 years. This drum would equally be at home amongst the finest of stages or studios. Enjoy!
