For your supreme viewing pleasure is this sweet vintage Rogers Tower drum set from the coveted 1960s flat gray interior Cleveland era in gorgeous Red Onyx. Tower drums were the Cadillacs of '60’s center lug drums, and this one speaks particularly well with refined authority and warm articulation. The combination of old-growth maple shells with lower metal-mass from fewer lugs, along with Rogers 45 degree bearing edges proved to be an extremely resonant and musical marriage. One other distinctive feature is that Rogers used 8 lugs on their floor toms instead of the 6 lugs seen on the center lug offerings of other major USA manufacturers of the day. And of special note on this floor tom is the factory optioned Knobby leg brackets with hex legs, which are very rarely seen on Tower drums which almost exclusively came with the more budget friendly Sta-tite brackets and straight legs. Sonically, these drums are everything you could hope for in a Rogers Cleveland era set, with the killer tuning range they’re known for. These Delta Outfits all have Cleveland Tower tags. It's all original with the exception of the resonant heads on the toms (Original front bass head!). The edges are original and true. There is one extra hole in the floor tom under one of the leg brackets as shown that can only be seen on the inside, and no other modifications. The Red Onyx wrap is in beautiful condition which adds to the streamlined elegance. It even includes the Swiv-O-Matic cymbal holder with the extension.
