For your viewing pleasure is this vintage Ampeg SVT tube bass head. The black curved line design on the front dates this to the mid to late 70s. Based on the transformer codes, this looks to have been built in 1976. This iconic powerhouse amp is in great condition and fully functional. It was recently serviced by Outlier Audio in Chicago and had some weak capacitors replaced, the tube sockets cleaned and a brand new set of six Tung Sol 6550 tubes installed and has a clean bill of health. With 2-channels of both Bright & Normal inputs, an intuitive 3-band EQ with selectable mid frequency, ultra-hi and ultra-lo switches this rugged beast is ready to bring all 300 watts of deep warmth, punch, and clarity that these amps are known for.
It's paired with a matching vintage Ampeg SVT 8x10 bass cabinet from 1976. This slant back cabinet is made of solid wood lending to the superior tone over modern versions. It's structurally in very good condition. There are some bumps and a patch of Tolex missing with the wood painted black to match and one tear in the original grill cloth. All to be expected from gigging with one of these massive tone machines. Most importantly it sounds killer and is ready to rock. This pair would be equally at home in any great studio or out on the road. Enjoy!
