For your prime viewing pleasure is this rare vintage WFL 6.5x15 8 lug snare drum. This is a unique one that was made for the U.S. military and has "U.S." printed on the outer shell and an embossed number (53) on the inside of the glorious single ply solid walnut shell, which is seen on other military drums made by WFL. It has a brass "Wm F Ludwig Founder" keystone badge that is nice and tight. The shell measures 6.5x15 which was used on the No. 471 Contest model snares, but features the shorter Zephyr lugs found on the No. 490 Supreme model from the late 40s. The lugs are fully functional, and have some oxidation. The diamond design has been polished off on one of them. The original double flanged hoops have aged to an almost silver color giving this snare some really great vintage vibes against the deep rich brown color of the shell. The P-83 snare strainer functions smoothly with the original 10-strand wires. It has newer Ludwig Weather Master heads that tune up well. If you're looking for a truly unique snare to add to your collection or studio sound, look no further. It's all vintage vibes, all day long. Enjoy!
