1930s Ludwig 12x16 Salesman Sample Champion Parade No. 239 Snare Drum Rare
1930s Ludwig 12x16 Salesman Sample Champion Parade No. 239 Snare Drum Rare
Condition: Vintage
For your viewing pleasure is this ultra rare Ludwig 12x16 Salesman Dealer Sample Champion Parade No. 239 marching snare drum from the early 1930s. This drum features all three of the DeLuxe drum finishes from the 1932 Drum Corp catalog. The panel in the first photo is actually Green Flake Pearl that has faded to a gold hue as is common with green sparkle wraps, but the original color can still be seen under the hoops as shown in the last photo. The Gold Flake Pearl has darkened slightly and taken on an awesome crackled look. The Avalon Pearl has slightly yellowed with age. All the claw hooks bear the "Patent Pend" stamp since the "double hook" design had just debuted a few years prior in the 1926 catalog. The drum is in overall great condition for its age. It's all original with the exception of the heads, there is only the collar from the bottom head currently installed. The original gut wires are all present and the bearing edges are true and original and the stamped oval badge is securely attached. Truly a one of a kind drum that would make a great centerpiece for any vintage drum collection. Enjoy!
